at Little Penang Street Market
Creative workshop for children at Little Penang Street Market was
organized on 29th November 2009, together with Christmas celebration for the
year. The market was very busy on that day, all booths were taken by
vendors.
The workshop was divided into two age groups: younger kids below 8 year olds
were treated to a story telling by Alison Henderson. Later they proceed to
build kampong houses made of sticks and play dough, based on the story they
heard.
Older teenagers were given the opportunity to learn from Don Henderson, an
accomplished author from Australia who writes stories for young adults. The
workshop included some insight in publishing world and also an exercise for
participants to write a fiction in a flash -- 50 words story based on a
given character, a scenario and a verb.
